Troops Foil ISWAP Attack on Gajiram FOB, Inflict Casualties

On August 10, 2026, at approximately 12:20 a.m., troops from the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, successfully thwarted an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government Area, Borno State. According to Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer, the troops responded with effective fire, forcing the attackers to withdraw after suffering significant casualties.

During the engagement, several terrorists were neutralized, and weapons, ammunition, and communication gadgets were recovered. A post-engagement review indicated that the retreating terrorists evacuated several casualties.

Although a few troops sustained injuries due to a temporary breach in defenses, they were promptly airlifted and are currently stable. The military has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining vigilance in the area and preventing further terrorist attempts.
