Troops Eliminate 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP Fighters in Operation

On August 27, 2026, Nigerian military troops conducted a successful joint offensive against Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area, resulting in the death of more than 21 terrorists. The operation was confirmed by Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, in a statement issued on August 28, 2026.

Troops acted on credible intelligence to stealthily infiltrate the terrorists' camp, overcoming challenging terrain. The operation involved the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team and newly inducted soldiers from the 226 Battalion, recently assigned to Sector 4 in Adamawa State.

During the operation, troops engaged in two separate confrontations with the terrorists, destroying motorcycles, bicycles, and jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit, believed to be part of the terrorists' supply chain. They also recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines, and a significant quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

The military emphasized that operations would persist until all abducted individuals are rescued, aiming to restore lasting peace in the North East.
