Troops Eliminate Five Kidnappers, Rescue Woman in Plateau

On February 16, troops conducted a raid in Angwan Boka, Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the elimination of five suspected kidnappers and the rescue of an abducted woman, Hauwa Suleiman. The operation was coordinated by the Joint Task Force and led by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.

Intelligence gathered prior to the raid led to the arrest of two suspects earlier that day, who provided information on the gang's hideout. During the raid, a fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the neutralization of four suspects.

Two suspects who had been arrested earlier attempted to overpower soldiers and escape but were subdued. Items recovered from the scene included three mobile phones, N17,600 in cash, and substances believed to be illicit drugs.

Captain Oteh noted that the troops would intensify operations in the area to track down remaining gang members and dismantle the criminal network. Major General Folusho Oyinlola commended the troops for their swift response and urged residents to support security agencies in combating banditry and insurgency.
