Troops Neutralize Bandit, Recover Arms in Benue Operation

On Wednesday, troops from Sector 1 of the Headquarters JTF Operation Whirl Stroke engaged in an operation in Benue, resulting in the death of a suspected bandit. Acting Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, reported that the encounter occurred when the troops identified two suspects riding a motorcycle.

Following a fierce exchange of gunfire, one suspect was neutralized while the second fled the scene. A subsequent search operation led to the recovery of significant items, including one pistol, a pistol magazine, an AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, one 7.62mm NATO round, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, one PKT round, a Tecno mobile phone, and assorted charms.

Zubairu urged local residents to remain vigilant and share credible information regarding suspected criminal activities, emphasizing the importance of such information for the security forces' swift response to threats. He assured that patrols and intelligence-driven operations would continue to dismantle criminal networks in the area.
