Nigerian Troops Achieve Major Success Against Terrorism

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria announced significant military successes in operations conducted nationwide from February 13 to 19, 2026. Major General Michael Onoja detailed the neutralization of several terrorists and the arrest of suspects across various regions, including the North East, North West, North Central, South South, and South East.

In Borno and Yobe states, troops neutralized seven terrorists and apprehended three suspects while rescuing kidnap victims. In Adamawa state, they intercepted five individuals and recovered 37 million naira in cash.

Operations in the North West led to the arrest of nine terrorists and the rescue of 26 victims. The DHQ also reported the donation of 25 armored personnel carriers to enhance operational capacity in Zamfara state.

Other operations resulted in the arrest of suspects and the recovery of arms in Delta and Cross River states. Chief Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience.
