Troops Eliminate 50 Terrorists in Yobe Operation

On the night of Saturday, during an operation in Yobe, troops from the Nigerian Army's 27 Task Force Brigade successfully repelled an assault by terrorists targeting the 120 Task Force Battalion in Goniri sector. The operation, which began around midnight, involved early detection by troops who executed a coordinated response, resulting in the death of 50 terrorists.

Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the military spokesman, disclosed that the troops prevented the insurgents from breaching their camp, and no equipment was lost during the intense gun battle that lasted several hours. The Nigerian Army's air component provided aerial support, contributing to a synchronized air-land assault that decimated the fleeing insurgents.

The operation revealed extensive blood trails and numerous bodies of the terrorists, with additional items recovered including general-purpose machine guns, PKT machine guns, AK-47 rifles, and assorted ammunition. While some soldiers sustained injuries, they are currently receiving medical treatment, and operations in the area continue to consolidate gains against the insurgents.
