Troops Neutralize Two Terrorists in Borno Operations

On May 15, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force conducted clearance operations in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the neutralization of two suspected terrorists. The operation was carried out by the 153 Task Force Battalion stationed in Kirawa, involving 15 soldiers and 16 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

The troops aimed to clear suspected terrorist hideouts in the area, specifically targeting routes used by militants. During the operation, contact was made with members of the Islamic State West Africa Province, leading to a firefight in which two terrorists were neutralized.

Several other militants reportedly retreated towards Ngosh. Following the engagement, the troops exploited the general area but made no further contact with fleeing insurgent forces before returning to base at 3:00 PM after completing the operation.
