Troops Neutralize Armed Gunmen in Plateau State Ambush

On April 21, 2026, at approximately 7:49 PM, troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace conducted a successful ambush operation in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, near Doruwa Babuj. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence about armed criminals suspected of carrying out violent attacks, sexual assaults, and armed robberies in nearby communities.

Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the media information officer for the task force, confirmed that the troops engaged the suspects during a brief exchange of fire, resulting in the death of two gunmen, while others escaped into the surrounding bush. Following the ambush, the troops conducted a search of the area, recovering a local fabric rifle, five rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife, and a mobile phone.

The task force emphasized its commitment to maintaining a strong security presence in the Marit Lajam community to ensure ongoing safety and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
