Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Zamfara

On May 4, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, conducted a successful clearance operation in Zamfara aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds. The operation covered critical locations, including Maikwanuga Village in Talata Mafara LGA, Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami, Didi, and Tungar Magaji Village in Maradun LGA.

During the engagement, the troops encountered and overwhelmed terrorists at Tungar Magaji, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists while others fled. Following the engagement, a thorough search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and a 30-round loaded magazine found on a motorcycle.

This operation is part of a sustained campaign to dismantle terrorist hideouts within the Bagega Sunk Forest Corridor, aimed at ensuring lasting security for affected communities.
