Troops Overrun ESN/IPOB Hideout in Imo's Valley

On February 26, troops conducted a significant operation against an ESN/IPOB hideout in Imo's Valley, as confirmed by credible military sources. The final assault commenced at 7 AM and involved personnel from the Nigerian military, Nigerian Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Troops advanced on foot for three hours through difficult terrain, facing heavy resistance from ESN/IPOB elements who employed locally made improvised explosive devices and intense gunfire. Despite this, the troops displayed resilience and professionalism, successfully overwhelming the fighters and breaking their defensive positions.

The operation resulted in the neutralization of one suspect believed to be an IPOB member, while several others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds. Items recovered during the operation included two pump-action guns, locally fabricated firearms, tear gas, and flags associated with Biafra and the United States.

Troops also destroyed life support structures and apprehended two suspects attempting to spy on troop movements. The suspects are currently in custody, and military intelligence is conducting further investigations.
