Troops Defeat ISWAP Attack in Yobe, Kill Senior Commander

On March 9-10, 2026, troops from the 120 Task Force Battalion engaged in a successful operation against ISWAP terrorists attempting to encircle their camp in Goniri, Yobe State. The troops utilized superior firepower and air support, leading to the retreat of the terrorists with heavy casualties.

A total of 20 fighters were killed, including a senior commander identified as Abu Yusu Munzir Dursula. The operation also resulted in the recovery of weapons, including a machine gun, AK-47 rifles, and ammunition.

Following the engagement, the military maintained control of the area, with ongoing search operations in neighboring communities to locate any remaining terrorists. The troops reported a momentary breach of their defensive perimeter, but overall, they stabilized the situation and ensured military control of the location.
