Troops Defeat ISWAP Attack in Mandaragirau, 38 Neutralized

On March 28, 2026, troops successfully repelled a coordinated attack by ISWAP terrorists at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mandaragirau. The operation, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, involved a swift defensive response supported by air components providing close air support and real-time intelligence surveillance reconnaissance (ISR).

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba reported that the troops inflicted heavy casualties, leading to a chaotic retreat of the insurgents. A total of 38 terrorists were neutralized, with eight bodies recovered from the immediate area.

Local intelligence indicated that an additional 30 bodies were abandoned along the withdrawal route, and significant military equipment was recovered, including seven AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, and four RPG bombs. Notably, there were no fatalities among the troops, although some personnel were injured due to an RPG attack on an MRAP vehicle.

The successful operation has sparked jubilation among the local community and reflects growing confidence in military efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities in the region.
