Troops Defeat ISWAP Attack on Magumeri Base, Recover Arms

On May 7, 2026, troops from Operation Hadin Kai repelled an attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists on the Magumeri military base. The assault occurred in the early hours under poor visibility conditions, leading to a minor breach in an isolated section of the camp.

The military troops responded decisively, engaging in a fierce gun battle that forced the terrorists to retreat with heavy casualties. A statement issued by the media information office of Operation Hadin Kai, attributed to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, confirmed that the troops fought gallantly throughout the encounter, recovering numerous weapons and ammunition abandoned by the fleeing insurgents, including automatic rifles and anti-aircraft guns.

However, two soldiers lost their lives during the operation, with their injuries currently stabilized and receiving medical attention. The military equipment sustained temporary structural damage due to the intense exchange of gunfire.

Following the encounter, troops commenced follow-up operations in the area to consolidate their gains.
