Troops Defend Borno Base Against ISWAP Attack

On Monday at approximately 12:20 am, troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), repelled a coordinated attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) located in Gajiram, Nganzai LGA, Borno State. The insurgents attempted to overrun the military installation but were met with fierce resistance from the vigilant troops.

According to Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer for the operation, the troops employed overwhelming firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat after suffering significant casualties. During the engagement, several terrorists were neutralized, and the troops recovered weapons, ammunition, and communication gadgets.

Military intelligence confirmed that the fleeing terrorists evacuated numerous dead and wounded fighters. Although the troops achieved a decisive victory, a portion of the base's defensive position was temporarily breached, resulting in injuries to some soldiers, who are currently receiving medical attention.
