Troops Kill 11 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno State Attack

On February 28 and early March 1, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North East, under the command of Lt. Col.

Sanni Uba, successfully repelled a coordinated attack by ISWAP terrorists on Forward Operating Bases Mayanti and Gajiram in Borno State. The assaults resulted in the deaths of 11 insurgents.

The attack on the Forward Operating Base Mayanti was heavily contested, with troops maintaining control despite intense enemy fire. During the subsequent assault on Gajiram, the troops, supported by air assets, recovered three terrorist bodies and various weapons, including four AK-47 rifles and anti-tank bombs.

Additionally, a wounded soldier was airlifted for advanced medical care. The operations underscore the ongoing pressure on terrorist elements in the region and demonstrate the resilience of the Nigerian military in maintaining security.
