Troops Rescue District Head, Repel Terrorist Attacks in Katsina

On July 2, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West conducted coordinated military operations across Katsina and Zamfara States, successfully repelling multiple terrorist attacks. The operations led to the rescue of Mr.

Mubarak Sharin, the abducted District Head, and the neutralization of several terrorists. According to Aliyu Danja, a media informant for the Joint Task Force, the troops engaged suspected terrorists at Amara Chakau Junction in the Danmusa Local Government Area, where they responded to gunfire with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee.

During the encounter, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, and two motorcycles believed to be used in the attacks. Additionally, in Zamfara State, the troops repelled an assault in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area, recovering more weapons and ammunition.

The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups to protect lives and property in the region.
