Troops Rescue 33 Abducted Passengers in Zamfara State

On August 8, 2026, troops from Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued 33 passengers who had been abducted by terrorists near Magazu in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence received in the late afternoon, indicating that the abductors were attempting to move the victims away from a major road.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North-West, reported that the troops, in collaboration with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, mobilized to the area upon receiving the information. Upon arrival, the security forces engaged the terrorists, compelling them to abandon the passengers and flee into nearby bushes.

All 33 victims were rescued without any casualties.
