Army Rescues 48 Kidnapped Victims in Zamfara Attack

On July 26, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 48 kidnapped victims during a military operation in Magami village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The operation was initiated after troops received a distress call regarding an attack by heavily armed terrorists riding approximately 40 motorcycles.

Upon arrival, the troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, compelling them to flee and abandon their captives. Unfortunately, one civilian was killed during the attack, and two others sustained gunshot injuries, requiring medical treatment at the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda.

Following the rescue, the military conducted aggressive patrols in the area to prevent further attacks. The Theatre Command commended the troops for their professionalism and reiterated their commitment to restoring security in the North-West region, urging the public to provide timely information to security agencies.
