Troops Rescue Abducted Soldier and Civilian in Zamfara

On July 28, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued two individuals abducted by terrorists during a patrol in Zamfara state. The operation, conducted by Sector 2 troops deployed at Gwashi, freed Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, who had been kidnapped on July 22, 2026, along the Zuru–Anka road, and Lauwali Dan Ada, a civilian from Kasahola village in Bukkuyum local government area.

Following their rescue, both individuals were evacuated to the troops’ location, where they underwent debriefing, medical evaluation, and other necessary administrative procedures. Lt Col Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, stated that the successful rescue operation demonstrates Operation FANSAN YAMMA's commitment to sustained offensive operations aimed at protecting lives and restoring security across the North West.

The Joint Task Force has intensified patrols and clearance operations in Zamfara and neighboring states to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes in the region.
