Troops rescue 44 kidnapped victims in Katsina forest

Security forces successfully rescued 44 kidnapped victims in a clearance operation in the Rugu forest in Katsina State. The operation, carried out on August 19, involved troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA, the police, DSS, Civil Watch Corps, vigilantes, and air support from the Nigerian Air Force.

The raid targeted the Kaigar Malamai border community within the forest, resulting in the dislodgement of several bandit camps and the safe release of the victims, including three individuals from Kano State and 41 residents of Katsina State. The rescued victims were taken to the General Hospital for medical checks before being handed over to the local authorities.

Security agencies have intensified patrols in the area to prevent the return of bandits.
