Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover N8m Ransom in Plateau

On April 25, 2026, troops in Plateau State successfully rescued a woman who had been kidnapped and recovered an N8 million ransom that had been paid by her family. The victim was abducted on April 19 in Bauna, Shendam Local Government Area.

Following intelligence gathering, military operations led to the arrest of suspects involved in the kidnapping, who later confessed and provided information that led to the victim's safe recovery in Pandam Forest, Qua'an Pan Local Government Area. The operation was confirmed by Hon.

Dr. Christoph Audu, the Executive Chairman of Qua'an Pan Local Government Council.

The rescued victim was returned to her family and underwent medical evaluation. Concurrently, fresh attacks in Riyom Local Government Area resulted in the deaths of Rev.

Ayuba Choji, his wife Chundung, and their children Cyril. These incidents have heightened tensions in the region, prompting calls for increased security measures.
