Truck Accident Kills Three Pedestrians in Ogun State

In Ogun State, a plywood-laden truck with registration number GGE 681 XD crushed three pedestrians to death at Ota Tollgate along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The accident, which occurred around 9 p.m., was attributed to a brake failure.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, explained that the truck veered off and collided with the pedestrians while attempting to overtake an empty truck. Eyewitnesses reported that the loaded truck suffered brake failure, ramming into the vehicle in front before tragically crushing the commuters.

The victims included two males and one female, with no injuries reported. The affected vehicles were towed to a yard for further investigation, and normal vehicular movement was restored after the incident was brought under control.

Akinbiyi extended condolences to the families of the deceased and advised motorists to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.
