President Tinubu Mourns Former Governor Bamanga Tukur

President Bola Tinubu expressed condolences on the death of Bamanga Tukur, former governor of the old Gongola State, who died at the age of 90. In a message from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu noted Tukur's significant contributions to Nigeria's political and economic landscape.

Tukur served as General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975 to 1982, transforming the maritime sector. He was elected governor of Gongola State in 1983 and later chaired BHI Holdings and the DADDO Group of Companies.

Tukur also held the position of Federal Minister of Industries from 1993 to 1995 under General Sani Abacha. He was a prominent advocate for Africa's economic integration as Executive President of the African Business Roundtable and Chairman of the NEPAD Business Group.

Tukur led the Peoples Democratic Party as National Chairman from March 2012 to January 2014, emphasizing party discipline and consensus. Tinubu extended condolences to Tukur's family, the Fombina Emirate, the Adamawa State Government, and the broader political and business communities.
