Tunji Ojo Advocates Unified ECOWAS Data System

During a high-level engagement with ministers responsible for immigration and border management within ECOWAS member states on Wednesday in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Tunji Ojo advocated for the establishment of a unified data system to tackle existing border gaps. Ojo highlighted the absence of a structured database for data management, which necessitates the integration of a platform that aligns with the realities of border management in various countries.

He pointed out the importance of prioritizing funding for border management initiatives and urged ministers to consider the allocation of resources in line with the specific border realities of their nations. Ojo also discussed the need for a mandatory yellow paper card for travel exemptions in specific regions and called for continued collaboration among interior ministers and political heads in managing internal security.
