PDP Leadership Dispute: Court Rules in Wike's Favor

The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) hinted that political power, money, and greed may have influenced a Federal High Court ruling that favored the faction aligned with Nyesom Wike. The court, presided over by Justice Salim Olasupo Ibrahim, ruled on Friday that it lacked jurisdiction over the leadership dispute and stated that the plaintiffs did not have the legal standing to institute the suit.

The court also noted that the case amounted to an abuse of court process and ordered the plaintiffs to pay N70 million in costs, with their counsel directed to pay N10 million for what the court described as frivolous pre-election litigation. Comrade Ini Ememobong, the spokesperson for the Turaki faction, expressed disappointment with the ruling and indicated that they would appeal the decision.

He emphasized that the conflict is a continuation of the leadership crisis within the PDP, which has seen a split among its governors and rival camps supporting different leadership factions.
