PDP Faction Critiques Court Ruling on NDC Registration

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki has publicly criticized a ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which vacated an earlier judgment that directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) political party. Justice Isah Dashen presided over the case, where the Peace Movement Party claimed ownership of the NDC logo and argued that the necessary parties should have been joined in the suit.

The PDP faction expressed concern that the court's ruling further narrows Nigeria's democratic space and urged the federal government to take steps to ease political tension in the interest of democratic stability. They condemned the court's order, stating it constricts democratic opportunities and could undermine the multiparty system in Nigeria, particularly as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
