Wike Calls Turaki's PDP Appeal Baseless Ahead of Convention

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, dismissed the appeal by Tanimu Turaki's faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at the Supreme Court as baseless. Wike made these remarks on Friday night while inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, the venue for the PDP's national convention scheduled for March 29-30, 2024.

He stated that the Turaki-led National Executive Committee (NEC) unanimously ratified the decision to appeal the court judgment but stressed that it would not affect the plans for the national convention. Wike highlighted that efforts to resolve internal disputes within the party would continue after the convention.

He acknowledged that while some members may have grievances, the party, with millions of members, cannot satisfy everyone. Wike confirmed that positions had already been allocated across various zones, with the South designated for the presidential slot and the North for the chairmanship, aiming for a unified front at the convention.
