PDP Faction Denies Planned Congresses Amid Confusion

The Kabiru Turaki faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a statement denying any plans to conduct congresses across the country, describing reports of such plans as false information aimed at undermining the party and derailing Nigeria's democratic process. Turaki, the faction's chairman, accused individuals with influence of attempting to expel members to gain control over the party's presidential fate.

He emphasized that the PDP is currently focused on digital membership registration and urged the public to ignore the alleged congress plans. The statement comes amid contrasting positions within the PDP, particularly as Nyesom Wike's faction insists on holding a national convention scheduled for March 29-30, despite ongoing litigation.

The PDP's national caretaker committee, led by acting national chairman Moham Abdulrahman, has also been involved in discussions about the convention, with assurances from members that they remain committed to organizing an inclusive event.
