Turaki Faction of PDP Vows to Field Presidential Candidate

The Turaki faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly stated its commitment to field a presidential candidate for the upcoming elections, amidst rising tensions with the faction associated with Nyesom Wike, who is reportedly inclined to support Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election. Ini Ememobong, the PDP's national publicity secretary, acknowledged the challenges of reconciling the divided factions but expressed cautious optimism about ongoing dialogue.

He noted that despite the sharp disagreements within the party, efforts to restore unity are essential for presenting a credible challenge in the elections. Ememobong highlighted that the faction led by Turaki believes in the necessity of the PDP remaining a competitive opposition party.

He emphasized the importance of listening to party members and maintaining discussions to achieve a minimum agreement for peace, ensuring that the PDP does not abandon its core responsibilities as a democratic opposition.
