Turkish Cargo Ship Sinks After Collision in Marmara

On a recent date, two Turkish-flagged commercial vessels collided in the Sea of Marmara off Istanbul. Following the collision, one of the ships, which had 10 crew members on board, is believed to have sunk approximately 11 minutes after the incident.

In response, search operations have been initiated, involving the Turkish Coast Guard, Turkish Navy, Disaster Management Agency, and other emergency services. The search effort includes 18 vessels, five helicopters, two drones, an aircraft, and a naval vessel equipped for underwater operations.

The second ship involved in the collision remains undamaged and is currently anchored off Silivri while authorities conduct an investigation into the cause of the collision.
