Nigerian Army Rescues Retired General's Wife from Kidnappers

Troops of the Nigerian Army successfully rescued Mrs. Adonkie, the wife of retired Brig. Gen. Basil Adonkie, who was kidnapped from her residence in Abuja on Tuesday, September 1. Following the abduction, the Army's Guards Brigade and Army Headquarters Garrison initiated an operation based on credible intelligence.

They located the kidnappers in the Aco Estate-Goza Community area, where the criminals abandoned Mrs. Adonkie due to the troops' rapid response and superior firepower. The rescue occurred at Angwan Sabo Village.

Subsequently, the military expanded its operation to prevent the suspects' escape, deploying reinforcements to strategic locations. On Wednesday, September 2, troops intercepted two suspected gang members around Gaube village in Kuje Area Council, leading to their arrest.

The Army also recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Ongoing clearance operations are being conducted to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
