Two Arrested for Murder in Anambra Land Dispute

The Anambra State Police Command arrested two suspects, Emmanuel Nnakezi, aged 33, and Clement Nnaekezi, aged 69, in connection with the murder of three family members in a land dispute over a bitter kola tree. The victims, identified as Robert Nnakezi, aged 67, Ikechukwu Obi, aged 14, and Ukamaka Efion, aged 2, were reported missing during school holidays.

Following credible intelligence, the Rapid Response Squad from Awkuzu conducted a thorough investigation leading to the suspects' arrest on May 3, 2026, in different locations in Oba and Ukpor. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, which led police to the site where the victims were buried in a shallow grave.

The bodies were exhumed and deposited in the morgue for autopsy. The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioy Orutugu, condemned the act, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, and assured the public of the commitment to ensuring justice.
