Two Killed in Abia State Auto Crash Involving Truck

On Tuesday, a fatal auto crash in Abia State resulted in the deaths of two individuals, confirmed by Mr. Ngozi Ezeoma of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The incident took place near the notorious signboard junction close to Ubani Market in Umuahia. Ezeoma described the event as tragic, occurring just hours after a similar crash on Opobo Road in Aba.

The collision involved a motorcyclist who knocked down a tricycle, which was subsequently crushed by an oncoming truck. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the truck was moving at high speed when it struck the tricycle, leading to the immediate death of the occupants.

The tricycle operator fled the scene, and efforts are ongoing to trace the truck driver. Ezeoma reiterated the importance of strict adherence to traffic rules to prevent such incidents, especially urging drivers of heavy-duty vehicles to exercise caution and avoid overspeeding at dangerous junctions.

The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and deposited at a mortuary in Umuahia.
