Two Dead, Several Injured in Ibadan Vehicle Crash

On Saturday, October 22, a multiple-vehicle accident occurred at Soka Junction on the Lagos Expressway in Ibadan, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to several others. The Oyo State Police Command, through its public relations officer, DSP Ayanlad Olayinka, confirmed the incident.

The accident involved a white Howo truck, registered number GOMB GEM696X, driven by Abdullahi Bashiru, who reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to reckless driving and excessive speed. The truck collided with multiple vehicles, including a Toyota Venza and a BMW car, as well as pedestrians.

The Commissioner of Police for Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a quick recovery to the injured victims. Olayinka assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident and urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent further accidents.
