Violence Erupts in Ikire Over Motor Park Control

On Monday, two people were feared killed in Ikire, Osun State, following a violent confrontation at a motor park located at Naira and Kobo Junction. The conflict erupted around 10:30 am when drivers associated with the Accord Party attempted to take control of the park from those loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Eyewitnesses reported that a political thug affiliated with the APC was present during the altercation, which resulted in significant violence. One man was seen in a vehicle appearing to be dead with a head wound, while another was found lying face down in a pool of blood.

During the chaos, a new Toyota Hilux vehicle assigned to the Ikire Divisional Police Station was damaged. Following the incident, members of the Accord Party alleged that an Accord member was shot, leading them to report the situation to the Akire of Ikire.

The police later claimed that an Accord member had abducted a local association secretary, and a stray bullet hit a bystander during the ensuing gunfire. Attempts to reach Abiodun Ojelabi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Police Command, were unsuccessful.
