APC and Accord Clash Over Ikire Motor Park Shooting

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Accord have engaged in a blame game over a fatal shooting incident at a motor park in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area, which resulted in the deaths of commercial driver Saheed Akinrole and a passenger. The APC accused political thugs associated with Accord of abducting and torturing its member, Sunkanmi Abiodun, before attacking responding police officers.

The APC's statement, signed by Director of Media and Information Kola Olabisi, condemned the killings and called for increased security and investigation by the Osun State Police Command. In contrast, Accord, led by Osun State Chairman Pastor Victor Akande, claimed that the Divisional Police Officer, Bamidele Olatona, opened fire on unarmed civilians without provocation.

Accord demanded an investigation into Olatona's actions and called for his arrest. The incident has raised significant concerns regarding political violence and police conduct in the region.
