Nice Ultras Face Jail for Assault on Moffi and Boga

Prosecutors in Nice have requested prison sentences for two ultras from OGC Nice accused of facilitating an attack on Nigerian forward Terem Moffi and former Chelsea winger Jérémie Boga in November 2025. Following a 3-1 defeat to Lorient, over 200 supporters gathered outside Nice’s training ground and blocked the team’s bus.

The two defendants, who had roles within the Populaire Sud ultras group, boarded the bus and assured players they could safely speak with the crowd. While most players passed through without incident, Moffi and Boga faced insults, spitting, and violent jostling.

Although neither defendant is accused of directly assaulting the players, prosecutor Damien Martinelli described the incident as an “ambush,” asserting it would not have occurred without their involvement. A two-year sentence, including one year in prison, was requested for one defendant, while the second faced a two-year sentence and an immediate committal order.

The Nice criminal court is expected to announce its verdict on September 11. Moffi has since left Nice on loan for Porto, where he won the Portuguese league title.
