Nigerian Nationals Arrested in India After Escaping Nepal Prison, Highlighting Transnational Crime Concerns

Two Nigerian nationals were arrested in India after escaping from a prison in Nepal. The suspects were apprehended in Jainagar, Bihar State, while attempting to cross into India.

They were part of a group that fled a detention facility in Nepal following violent demonstrations in the country. The escapees, including foreign nationals, were arrested across Indian states bordering Nepal.

This incident sheds light on the recurring involvement of Nigerian nationals in transnational crimes across Asia, raising concerns among authorities. Earlier in August, Indian police arrested eight Nigerians for drug trafficking, uncovering a synthetic drug production unit.

The heightened security operation along the India-Nepal border aims to address such criminal activities involving Nigerian nationals.
