Two Rescued After Building Collapse in Kubwa, Abuja

On Friday, a section of a residential building comprising six blocks of flats collapsed in Kubwa, Abuja, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Two individuals were trapped on the ground floor and were successfully rescued shortly after the incident was reported via a distress call at 11:38 a.m.

Nkechi Isa, Head of Media and Public Relations for the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), confirmed the deployment of rescue personnel to the scene. The two victims were extricated from the rubble and transported to Kubwa General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded; however, the collapse resulted in significant damage to personal belongings and household items of the residents. The area was secured by officials from the Department of Development Control and the FCT Police Command, who also initiated investigations to ascertain the cause of the building's collapse.
