Sixteen Rescued After Building Collapse in Kano State

On August 8, 2026, at approximately 4:32 am, a building collapse occurred at Dan Dishe, Kwanar Yashi in the Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State. The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed that the Emergency Response Unit received a call from staff member Aminu Sani Warure reporting the incident.

Fire service personnel were promptly mobilized to the scene, where they discovered that a residential building measuring about 20 × 30 ft had collapsed. A total of sixteen individuals were rescued alive, with three victims found unconscious.

The rescued individuals were handed over to Usman Ibrahim, the brother of one of the victims, for further assistance. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the collapse.

The Kano State Fire Service has urged the public to adhere to safety precautions, especially during the rainy season, to prevent similar incidents.
