So Safe Corps Officers Arrested Over Death of Ogun Man

Two officers from the Ogun State So Safe Corps were arrested by the Ogun State Police Command in connection with the death of a man identified as Simpli Success. The incident reportedly occurred after an altercation on a Saturday in the Oju Oro area, where Success's mother informed the officers about the matter.

Instead of handing him over to the police, the officers allegedly assaulted him, leading to injuries sustained during the alleged torture. Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer Babaseyi Oluseyi confirmed the officers' custody following the incident.

Moruf Adekunle, a spokesperson for the So Safe Corps, condemned the actions of the officers, describing them as violations of the organization's operational procedures. He emphasized that the Corps does not condone human rights abuses and is cooperating with the police to ensure justice.

The incident has raised concerns about extrajudicial actions and torture by security personnel in Nigeria, with civil society organizations calling for stricter accountability measures.
