UAE Requires Cash Declarations for Travelers Over AED 60K

The United Arab Emirates has implemented a regulation requiring travelers to declare any amount of AED 60,000 (equivalent to N22,023,471) when entering or leaving the country. This rule applies to both arrivals and departures and mandates that the declaration be made to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).

The regulation is not limited to cash; it also encompasses foreign currency, gold, diamonds, and other financial instruments of equivalent value if they exceed the specified threshold. This rule is particularly significant for Nigerian travelers, as the amount exceeds N22 million.

Travelers intending to carry such sums must ensure compliance by making the necessary declaration at the point of entry or departure.
