UAE Implements Tiered Work Permit Costs Based on Compliance

The UAE government has introduced a framework determining work permit costs for employers, which vary significantly based on company classification. The fees range from AED 250 to AED 3,450 and are assigned by the UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

Companies are classified into three categories: A, B, or C, reflecting their compliance with local labor laws, participation in the Wages Protection System, adherence to MoHRE directives, respect for workers' rights, and commitment to workplace diversity. Employers who consistently meet these standards are placed in higher categories, resulting in lower permit costs.

Conversely, companies with documented violations or non-compliance are assigned to Category C, incurring the highest fees. This tiered pricing structure serves as an incentive for companies to invest in fair labor practices and maintain compliance records, impacting their administrative costs when hiring or retaining foreign workers.
