UAE Sets Fees for Foreign Part-Time Work Permits

The United Arab Emirates has disclosed the fees required for foreigners to obtain a part-time work permit, which includes an application fee of AED 100 (N36,023) and an approval fee of AED 500 (N180,118), bringing the total to AED 600 (N215,859). The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) is responsible for issuing these permits.

Employees must secure the part-time work permit from MoHRE before legally starting a second job alongside their primary employment. This legal framework has been in place since the UAE's Labour Law introduced provisions in 2010, allowing employees to take on part-time work in addition to a full-time role under specific conditions.

The announcement is particularly significant for the large population of foreign nationals in the UAE, many of whom seek additional income streams due to the cost of living.
