UBEC Launches Digital Platform for Education Fund Tracking

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) unveiled a digital platform called the Basic Education Action Plan Management System to enable parents and communities to track basic education projects and funds accessed by states. This announcement was made by UBEC Executive Secretary Dr Aisha Garba in Abuja during a two-day consultative workshop with chairmen of the 36 state Universal Basic Education Boards and directors of the commission.

The platform aims to improve transparency, planning, and monitoring of interventions under the new 10-year Universal Basic Education Roadmap 2026–2035, which will commence in October. Garba emphasized the importance of community involvement in monitoring projects and holding authorities accountable.

The platform has been in development for over a month, with SUBEB chairmen onboarded ahead of its full deployment. The initiative is part of UBEC's shift towards a "whole school approach," requiring states to address comprehensive needs of schools before approving action plans.

This approach aims to tackle persistent challenges in Nigeria's basic education sector.
