FAAN Clarifies No Ban on Uber, Bolt at Nigerian Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) issued a statement clarifying that it has not imposed a ban on Uber, Bolt, or other e-hailing services at Nigerian airports. This clarification was made amid public criticism regarding restrictions at airports such as Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

FAAN emphasized that its ongoing engagement with e-hailing operators aims to create a framework that ensures passenger safety, security, and orderly airport operations. The authority stated that the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) was introduced to modernize airport ground transportation and improve passenger safety, not to compete with e-hailing services.

FAAN highlighted the necessity of operational visibility and accountability for transport providers operating within airport premises, addressing concerns about passenger solicitation and touting. The authority reiterated that the framework is intended to integrate commercial transport services into the airport's operational and security framework.
