UBTH Launches 12 Healthcare Projects Under Ize-Iyamu

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has launched more than 12 infrastructural and medical projects under the leadership of Chief Medical Director (CMD) Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu. On Tuesday, during a facility tour, Prof. Ize-Iyamu reaffirmed her administration's commitment to accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare services.

She noted the institution's over 50-year history had led to significant deterioration in some facilities, making comprehensive renewal essential. The tour included the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom, represented by the Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Benin.

The projects unveiled include a modern police post, an expanded Accident and Emergency waiting area, a sophisticated mortuary complex, a Multi-Faith Centre, and a specialized Renal Premium Ward. Additionally, a new gas plant, a geriatric library, a state-of-the-art 160-slice CT scan facility, a Special Investigation Unit, a contemporary dentistry complex, and an advanced oncology centre were also introduced, collectively aimed at modernizing the hospital and improving healthcare delivery.
