UEFA Boycotts FIFA Competitions Over Investor Proposal

UEFA announced a unanimous decision by all 55 member associations to boycott FIFA competitions, including the World Cup, in response to FIFA President Gianni Infantino's proposal to allow third-party investors to make minority, non-controlling investments in FIFA competitions through the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE). Infantino's plan, which includes a $40 million incentive for member federations if approved, has been met with strong opposition from UEFA.

The organization, led by President Aleksander Ceferin, stated that the World Cup and other FIFA competitions should not be treated as investment products and that private investment would commercialize the sport, undermining its integrity. UEFA emphasized that the World Cup is a significant sporting legacy built over generations and declared that European nations would not participate in FIFA competitions if the proposal remains active.

They firmly rejected any commercialization plan, asserting that the World Cup is too important to be sold.
