UEFA announced on Wednesday that it will investigate allegations of discriminatory behavior directed at Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior. The accusations arose during a Champions League match against Benfica on Tuesday, where Vinicius Junior alleged that Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni subjected him to racial abuse.

The match in Lisbon was paused for 10 minutes after Vinicius reported the incident to the French referee Francois Letexier. This investigation highlights ongoing concerns regarding racism in football and the need for accountability within the sport.
