Ugo Udezue Hosts South-East Basketball Tournament in Ebonyi

Ugo Udezue, the CEO of AFA Sport, is set to host a three-day South-East Basketball Tournament in Ebonyi State from June 5 to June 7. This initiative is part of efforts to promote grassroots basketball and empower youth in the region.

Udezue highlighted the lack of viable basketball courts in Ebonyi State, despite its history of producing many players, including those for the Coal City Blazers, a premier league team. He emphasized the need for improved sports infrastructure, particularly in a region where football dominates.

The tournament will take place at Ebonyi Shop Mall in Abakaliki, featuring teams from five South-East states: Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra, and Abia. A major highlight will be the commissioning of a basketball court by Hon.

Richard Idik, who is expected to attend as a special guest. Udezue noted that the initiative aligns with the vision to expand basketball opportunities in the region and create pathways for young athletes to develop their careers in sports.
